S&S V-Lite versus Element E-Lite

[ENG] Some time has passed since the release of E-Lite, an Element’s copy of S&S Precision V-Lite. Thanks to Toy Soldier and our friend Badseed from Amok 2.0 we are able to compare both products. Enjoy.

Przeznaczenie/ the Use
[PL]  Orygina? zosta? opracowany jako cz??? systemu AIMS (Advanced Illumination & Marking Systems). V-Lite jest osobistym systemem identyfikacji/ o?wietlenia, którego g?ówn? zalet? jest mo?liwo?? przyczepienia praktycznie na ka?dy mundur, he?m czy osobist? os?on? balistyczn?. Jedynym warunkiem jest posiadanie kilku centymetrów kwadratowych rzepu.
[ENG] The original has been developed as a part of S&S Precision’s AIMS system (Advanced Illumination & Marking Systems). V-Lite is a personal lighting/identification system that could be easily attached to particularly any surface of a uniform, body armor or helmet as long as it has some square centimeters of Velcro.

Budowa/ the Built
[PL] Konstrukcj? obu ?wiate? cechuje du?a gi?tko?ci silikonowego materia?u,  u?atwiaj?cego zamontowanie na ka?dej powierzchni.  Dlatego te?, bez problemu zamontujemy ?wiat?a na he?mie. Spód kopii i orygina?y pokryty jest haczykami Velcro u?atwiaj?cymi zaczepienie. V-Lite i E-Lite s? do?? nisko wyprofilowane sprawiaj?c wra?enie idealnie wyrównanych do poziomu  powierzchni, do której zosta?y przyczepione.
Oba produkty s? do?? smuk?e i bez problemu mieszcz? si? miedzy palsy. Silikonowa obudowa zapewnia pe?n? wodoodporno??.
[ENG]  The design of both, the original and the copy, features a flexible silicone material which makes it especially useful on curved surfaces like helmets. The back of both is covered in hook Velcro for easy attachment. V-Lite and E-Lite are low-profiled making them flush with the surface.
The overall profile of the both lites  is quite slim, allowing easy use with PALS webbing. Additionally the silicone housing makes them water resistant.

Ró?nice/ the Differences
[PL] Pierwsze co rzuca si? w oczy to wielko??. E-Lite jest szerszy i wy?szy, jedynie d?ugo?? pozostaje zgodna z orygina?em. Plastik, z którego wykonana jest kopia sprawia wra?enie bardziej gi?tkiej i podatnej na skr?canie.
[ENG] The first thing that strikes the eye is the size. E-Lite is wider and higher, only the length is consistent with the original. Plastic, from which the copy is made gives the impression of a more flexible and susceptible to twisting.

[PL]Silikon u?yty w kopii jest mniej prze?roczysty i mi?kszy ni? w oryginale. Nie mam poj?cia jak wp?ynie to na ?ywotno?? kopii.
[ENG] Silicone used in the copy is less transparent and softer than the original. I have no idea how this will affect  the viability of the copy.

[PL]Orygina? jest ?licznie wyprofilowany, podczas gdy kopia jest pofalowana i wygl?da mniej atrakcyjnie.
[ENG]  The original is beautifully shaped, while the copy is wavy and looks less attractive.

[PL]Velcro w obu, na oko, wysz?o z tej samej fabryki.
[ENG]  Velcro on both, at face value, comes from the same factory.

[PL]Dodatkowo orygina? ma wybity w plastikowej obudowie napis V-Lite, a kopia Elementa – E-Lite.
[ENG]  In addition, the original has V-Lite stamped in the plastic casing , while the copy has E-Lite.

Dzia?anie/the Operation
[PL] Oba ?wiat?a maj? trzy tryby dzia?ania – w?/ mruganie/wy?. Naturalnie te?, oba w??cza si? tak samo, poprzez naci?ni?cie przycisku. Ponowne naci?ni?cie spowoduje zmian? trybów pracy.
[ENG] Both lites have three modes – on/blink/off. Not surprisingly, both are activated with a simple push of a button. Repeated pressing of the button will change the modes.

Zasilanie/ the Power Source
[PL]Oba produkty zasilane s? 1 bateri? CR2032. Producent V-Lite’a daje gwarancj? na 120 godzin ci?g?ego dzia?ania, Element raczy nas 140 godzinami. Oczywi?cie te warto?ci s? zale?ne od cz?stotliwo?ci w??czania i wy??czania, oraz trybów u?ytych.
Niestety zapewnienie wodoodporno?ci poprzez zalanie ca?ego uk?adu silikonem uniemo?liwia wymian? baterii na now?. W sumie mo?emy sami wymieni? bateri?, ale musimy rozpru? silikon, co wi??e si? z utrat? wodoodporno?ci. Wi?c zostaje nam tylko odpali? kompa i zamówi? sobie kolejnego V/E –Lite’a.
[ENG]Both products are powered by one CR2032 battery. Manufacturer of V-Lite  guarantees 120 hours of continuous operation, Element ensures 140 hours. Of course, these values r03; depend on the frequency of switching on and off, and the modes used.
Unfortunately, providing resistance to water, by flooding the entire system in silicone,  makes it impossible to replace the batteries. In total, you can replace the battery yourself, but you have to rip the silicone and loose water resistance.

Podsumowanie/ the Summary
[PL] Wiadomo, ?e u?yteczno?? znacznej cz??ci gad?etów w asg jest szczególnie w?tpliwa. Tak samo jest i z tym ?wiat?em. Je?li nie widzisz sensu w posiadaniu czego? takiego, to zapewne tak jest. Jednak je?li od czasu do czasu, twoja ekipa prowadzi dzia?ania nocne lub w ciemnych pomieszczeniach. Chcesz wygl?da? jak uberpro cz?onek speszyl forsy, to E-Lite jest fajnym bajerem, który dzia?a i prawie wygl?da jak orygina?. Tych purystów, którzy powa?nie podchodz? to stylizacji lub reko, nie zadowoli kopia Elementa. Ci panowie si?gn?? po orygina? od S&S.
W skrócie – czy warto kupowa?? Tak, je?li zale?y ci na wygl?dzie. Tak, je?li grasz noc? i potrzebujesz czego? do oznaczenia kumpli z dru?yny lun kierunku marszu. Je?li nie chcesz wydawa? kasy na orygina?, produkt Elementa jest dobrym wyborem.
Je?li jednak uwa?asz to za kompletnie zb?dny gad?et. Id? na piwo lub kup kulki
[ENG] It is known that a significant part of gadgets used in airsoft is particularly questionable. It is the same and with this light. If you do not see the point in having something like that, you’re probably right. However, if from time to time, your team is playing night ops it might be useful.  If you want to look like a member of the uber-pro-delta- rangers-special-forces units, the E-Lite is a nice gadget which works and looks almost like the original.
Those purists who are serious about the styling or reenactment  won’t be satisfied with a copy and will simply buy the original.

In a nutshell. Is it worth buying? Yes, if you go for the looks. Yes, if you play night games and need something to identify your teammate or as a direction pointer, and you don’t want to spend money on the original. Than Element’s E-Lite is a choice.

However if you think it’s a completely useless gadget. Go for a pint or buy some bbs
